Ong Kok Hwa: Senior Chartering Manager (joined BTS in 1991)

I’ve seen the company changing since 1991 – from Petroships to Brostrom and now to BTS Tankers. We work as one ‘family’, supporting each other, and ensuring the smooth operation of our vessels.

Key is learning from each other and building and maintaining good working relationships internally as well as externally. My advice to those who would like to join the chartering world? It’s important to understand the entire process – from chartering to the complexities of operating a vessel. Chartering is an interesting job with plenty of learning opportunities and challenges.

Christine Lim: Demurrage Analyst (joined BTS in 1981)

Time flies… I joined Petro Ships in 1981 to be a part of the admin department. The company has supported my development and given me ample opportunities to grow into the role of a Demurrage Analyst.

While the company has changed hands over the years, three things remain the same – great team spirit, caring colleagues and a real family environment. In the course of my work, I have gained invaluable experiences working closely with my colleagues as well as customers, learning negotiation skills, building relationships and gaining in-depth knowledge about charter parties and contracts of affreightment in terms of legal aspects.
